Mission: Jubilee
Location: 14 light hours from DS5
Timeline: After VSS Hyut Pt.2

Previously

"This is probably a long shot, but..." Alex said, then switched to Vulcan. {Computer, activate emergency power, reboot environmental systems, scrub radioactive atmosphere, replenish breatheable air supply and gravity to Human standard, and begin shipwide decontamination procedures if you have that capability. Authorization: Federation Emergency Cooperation Treaty}

There was a pause.
And now the continuation,

{Acknowledged,} the computer responded. {Please standby}

There were a few false starts, then the barest of emergency lights came on in the corridor and there was a 'wooshing' sound as the ship's environmental systems started to scrub the radiation from the air and make it breathable.

{System working at 30% efficiency.} the computer stated. {Expect delays in completion of the atmospheric scrubbing procedure.}

{Gratitude.} Alex said. {Please direct me to the ship's infirmary. Prepare the decontamination chamber. Confirm: If you seal the hatch after my patient and I enter the infirmary, you can scrub and replenish the atmosphere in the infirmary more quickly.}

{Confirmed: If I seal the hatch after you and your patient enter the infirmary, I can more quickly scrub the atmosphere.} the computer replied.

{Gratitude.} Alex said. {Please feed the data to the tricorder on the deck next to me.}

{Affirmative. The directions to the infirmary are now in your tricorder. Do you require anything else?}

{Gratitude. And negative, I do not require anything else at this time.} Alex said. {Please assist my colleague on your bridge, Starfleet Lieutenant Tessaro, in restoring auxiliary power. You will need to communicate with her in Federation Standard.}

{Acknowledged.} the Computer replied.

Alex tapped his combadge. "Lieutenant Tessaro," he said. "Apparently there's a small amount of emergency power. I took a wild chance and spoke to the computer in Vulcan, invoked the Federation Emergency Cooperation Treaty, and it booted up. I should have thought of that before. Sorry. You probably noticed the environmental systems trying to do their thing. They're only running at 30% efficiency so it might take a bit. I've asked the computer to interface with you in Standard and assist you in rebooting Auxiliary power before the Emergency batteries burn out. That should improve environmental system efficiency. Advise you try to use as little power as possible until Aux is up. I'm going to move my patient to the infirmary. It should have a decontamination chamber I can use to scrub my patient and treat him as best I can here and transport him to the ship when the time comes. When he's more stable, Lieutenant Kosugi can ask him what's going on here, or I or someone else can. Give me a little bit and I'll get him in good enough shape to interview."

=/\=Understood Senior Chief =/\= Annora responded. =/\= Thanks for the assist. =/\=

Raiden raised an eyebrow. " You speak Vulcan, there is something else that I can do."

Having been in command before this new assignment, Raiden acted out of instinct and called the Space Dock of DS5,

"This is Lieutenant Kosugi, we have a ship that is in dire need of assistance, send out some ships to tow the VSS Hyut into the Space Dock and have a medical team ready."

Tapping his combadge, Raiden blinked and looked a bit apologetically to those there."Sorry if I overstepped. A little bit of an echo from a previous assignment."

Static met the air, then the tac officer aboard the Ararat responded, "Acknowledged, Lieutenant. The Captain is addressing your needs."

Alex shrugged and effortlessly lifted the injured Vulcan without causing further harm and left, following his Tac-Corder's directions to the ship's infirmary.

"No need for apologies Lieutenant. A situation like this is not one to stand on rank."

While Annora didn't know much about the fighter pilot, so far there was nothing outputting about the man.

Curtis listened in at the Comms on the Ararat, waited for a break in the chatter then nodded to the replacement tactical officer, quietly saying. "Break me into their feed."

Once the link opened, he said, "This is Thibideaux. Lieutenant Tessaro, how's things looking over there?"

=/\= We won't make it back under our own power sir. However, any immediate danger has been negated. Senior Chief Rylan has managed to convince the computer into giving us access.=/\=

Meanwhile, Alex, having reached the infirmary, entered in and set his patient on the biobed. Until aux power was restored, the ship was running on a scant amount of emergency battery power, and that was need to scrub the atmosphere and restore some semblance of Earth normal life support. So Alex ordered the equipment left to bare minimal settings.

{Computer,} he said, speaking again in Vulcan. {Do we have enough power to use the decontamination chamber?}

{Your question was not logically asked. Rephrase.}

Alex laughed. {Computer, can we run the decontamination chamber concurrently with environmental systems under current power contraints without one of them failing or otherwise becoming functionally ineffective?}

{Negative. There is currently too little power to do so.}

Alex thought a moment. {Computer: Does this biobed have a decontamination setting for radiation poisoning? If so, do we have enough power to run the bed, the decontamination function, and environmental systems, without interruptions or failures?}

{Negative.}

{What if I reduce the mass and volume?} Alex asked. {Is there enough atmosphere for a purebred Vulcan to breathe in the infirmary at the time? Could I safely remove his suit?}

{Affirmative. However, an additional dose of Tri-Ox is recommended.}

{Confirmed. Gratitude.} Alex said.

{Your continued expressions of gratitude are illogical.}

Alex laughed again. {Confirmed.}

Alex removed his patient's EVA suit and administered a more direct dose of Tri-Ox. Then he gave the biobed the minimal power needed to run a low-level decon procedure.

{So,} Alex said to his patient, still speaking in fluent Vulcan. {My name is Alexander Rylan. I am a what is called an Independent Duty Corpsman. Think of me as a very advanced medical technician with the experience and qualifications to treat you until we can get you to a physician or healer. If you can, please tell me your name.}

A fluttering of eyelids and the Vulcan uttered, "Saan"

Briefly looking around as to where he was at, Saan, queried.

"Where are we? Are we close to a station?" his tone even. "If we are we need to get to where I can be treated. The ship isn't safe."

{Okay,} Alex said. {But the ship we came in is barely larger than a heavy runabout. There's no way I can quarantine you there and you're still giving off enough radiation to make everyone sick.} Alex checked a few settings on the biobed. {I need maybe another 5 minutes before I can safely beam you aboard our ship. BUT... I think I can speed that up if you're willing to risk severe nausea, vomiting, and other, even less pleasant GI issues. I can give you a much higher dose of Hyronalin than would normally be recommended and then I can probably shorten that to maybe 2 minutes. May I proceed?"

"You have my my permission." Saan uttered in his native tongue.

{Thank you,} Alex said. He prepped the hypo and pressed it to the Vulcan's neck. {Bombs away!} he said, and injected the Vulcan with a very high dose of Hyronalin. Then he turned the Vulcan on his side. {In case you vomit,} Alex said. Alex tapped his comm-badge. "Rylan to Lieutenant Tessaro and Commander Thibideaux," he said. "I have a Mister Saan here with me. He says we need to get off the ship RFN. I've sped up the decon process and can have him ready to go in about 2 minutes. Give me a second and I'll find out what he means by not safe." Alex turned back to Saan. {Okay, before you vomit,} Alex said. {Why isn't the ship safe?}

"The radiation level, but it can be salvaged. Records are where they can be studied." Saan feeling a wave of dizziness. "When I recover I can speak with those who need to hear. Just be on the alert."

{Understood,} Alex said, staying in Vulcan. {Rest a bit.} Alex tapped his commbadge. "Rylan to Tessaro and Thibideaux. Apparently Mister Saan here was just concerned about the radiation, though he did say to be on alert. The environmental systems are slowly trying to decon, but it would be great if we could get the heck off of this ship as soon as possible. Even if the rad levels drop to basically safe, it's still going to be higher than I'm comfortable until we can get a full decon-team in here."

As the others worked on getting the power systems back online, Rachele had been searching the vessel for any other survivors. Unfortunately she had yet to find any, she'd made note of the coordinates of they bodies, she'd found, for later retrieval. She breathed a sigh of relief as she heard the environmental systems hum back to life.

As she passed an open door, she caught a glimpse of something moving in there. {Hello, is anybody there?} She asked in broken Vulcan. {I'm with Starfleet, we're here to help.}

Checking his sensor repeater, Curtis said, "Acknowledged Lieutenant. We'll begin the tow. Keep us updated and we'll reach out to the yard and station emergency teams."

Pausing, he said, "Helm, take up a position to tow the Hyut."

Turning to the tac officer, he said "Tactical. Stand by with the tractor beam."

As the patrol ship maneuvered, Curtis reviewed the incoming data from his away team and said, "Communications. Get on the horn with DS5 and have them relay to the yard."

"On it," Goldie replied, glad the situation was looking better than it had at first. She sent the message to the station and asked them to relay it to the Dyson Repair Yard. Then she nodded to Thibideaux when she was done.

As the alert came in about the radiation, Curtis stiffened. A normal Suurok class had around one hundred and seventy five personnel. He brought up numbers on his HUD. Sensors told him that there were still a hundred and forty living vulcans. Wallace class escorts emergency evac was rated at ten.

Activating the comm, he said, "Beam the worst cases to the Ararat. Triage and move the rest of the survivors as far from that core into any shielded parts of the Hyut. Lieutenant Tessaro, we'll beam over the six emergency shield generators. Use those to get as many of the Hyut's crew into safe havens as we can. Monitor your suits closely, and well prep another away team to assist."

Looking about at his bridge crew, Curtis recieved nods of acknowledgment and he said, "Communications. Send out an emergency hail to all nearby ships and tell them we need help evacuating the wounded to Deep Space five."

With as busy as the systems traffic was, responses came in and slowly, a few at a time, the survivors of the Hyut were removed while the Ararat's Damage control teams shut down the core and began makeshift repairs.

Within five hours, the science vessel's crew had been removed and the Ararat's crew returned.

Three hours after that, the Hyut had been turned over to Yard control and the Ararat returned to the station. As they finished docking the ship, Curtis activated the Ararat's blower and said, "All hands. Well done. Thank you for your good work today. First round is on me later on in Silk and Shadows."
