Mission:
Time After Time
Location: Captain's Ready Room
Timeline: MD14 - Afternoon
[PREVIOUSLY]
"Sounds like a cleaning service," Curtis mused, "Though it does remind me of an ancient Earth movie called the Merry Maids of Madness I saw once. As I recall it had something to do with all the women of William Shakespeare in a modern, for the time, setting. To my disgrace, I was on a date and fell asleep during the movie... Sadly, I remember more of the movie than my date."
[CONTINUED]
"Shakespeare's plays have survived centuries. I doubt whatever the t-shirt is based on will survive to the next century." T'mpest couldn't help a smile pulling at one side of her mouth. "Now, shall we get down to business?"
Cara chuckled. "Yes, let’s get to business and see how this team will work out. I feel that it will." she tore off a piece of the pastry she had gained for herself, and popped the piece into her mouth.
Taking that as a cue, Curtis queued up files and said, "Right. Work." He auto keyed the lights in the room to dim and brought up a holo display of the sector and said, "Since my mandate is to look outward from the station, mostly," he said, getting warmed up and marshaling his thoughts. "I took up the review of the upcoming reestablishment of a fighter wing and expanding on that, on a few degrees. I think we'd best be served by expanding their role. I took the liberty of contacting Bu'Pers and Bu'Ops. Our pilots might as well do double duty and to that end I'd like to add system patrol craft for their patrols rather than in base fighters."
Curtis triggered the holo-projector and a somewhat slingshot shaped craft appeared. "This is the Banzai class fighter. It's the latest generation of the Peregrin class and can be configured to either two or three personnel, depending on mission and range. We're due for a Wing's worth, so that's a dozen frames." Flipping images after the fighter had rotated through three-sixty a few times, Curtis continued.
"We can ALSO get five Arrow class advanced runabouts that would be more suitable for patrol craft in that they have better range, firepower and as a multi-use craft, can be used like the Coast Guard cutters back on earth for all sorts of missions."
T'mpest looked over the images and nodded. "This is a good beginning. There were fighters here at one point, but I consider this starting from scratch. This looks like an excellent beginning. I also like using runabouts. It will give the pilots greater flexibility as well. Write up a proposal and I will authorize it. I wish to take advantage of Starfleet's good will--while we have it."
"Aye aye, ma'am," Curtis replied. "Request forwarded for your review. I also got into a chat with the Bu'Ships and he suggested something we might want to implement if we can get more pilots." He brought up an oval shaped craft with a rather blocky cockpit area. "Commander Rimmel is a ships architect and when I was talking to him about beefing up our squadron, he suggested we might want to look at building system defense craft organically here in the yards." He zoomed in on the craft and said, "Single seater, with a jump seat if. you need to let someone tag along. Weaponry is comparable to the Banzai, but no warp drive. It's technically faster than the Banzai, pushing near to point seven C. All the extra power goes to weaponry, shields and legs. And we can build them from some of the scrapped ships that inhabit the system, which is something else I've been mapping and looking at. We don't really want to give hulls back to the Cardassians, so declaring all those ships as unsafe and fit for the breakers seems the Strategic thing to do."
T'mpest looked over the specs. "Yes. But those should be sent over to the shipyards. That would be something they might like to play with."
With Curtis bringing up the Cardassian vessels Cara nodded, "I highly agree that they do not need their ships back. I am also quite happy to find out that we'll be bringing the fighters back to the station."
Cara took a sip of her tea before she continued.
"The last station I was on, when we dealt with the Breen, we had to deal with some of their fighters, and didn't have the fighters available. Luckily, our fighters, they managed to get back to the station to join in the combat."
Cara looked at what Curtis had proposed. "After all that this station has gone through, what you have put forth, I am agreeable to. I wish there was more of a plan like this set up."
"That is why we are doing so now," T'mpest replied. "This is the best time to set up new programs and bring back older ones. Mr. Thibideaux will be over the CAG and the fighters as part of his duties."
Curtis nodded and said, "To go along with taking care of all the derelicts, we're going to have to have teams go through them to make sure no remains...well...remain. Fighters will have to make sweeps to make sure as many as we can be sure need accounting for do get accounted. On all sides of course. The Cardassians aren't being overly helpful with Graves registration requests, but we'll do our best.
"On another note, back to ships Commodore," Curtis said offhandedly, "While sorting through various matters for the dockyard, station, planetary defense and the like, I did come across something you might find useful. One of the Sovereign Classes, the USS Valor, ended up needing to replace their Captain's Gig. There was a spare. The damaged Gig was repaired fully. Tested and found sound. Then ordered scrapped due to some sort of temper tantrum at Utopia Planitia between Bu'Ships and the Admiralty. On paper it doesn't exist. officially scrapped, but. Well. It's currently being ferried out to you as a personal transport."
[Main Operations]
Traxx was fidgeting as the lift neared the to the command deck and central operations for the whole station. Mr. Geral had said he had nothing to worry and as she would be expecting him but he had always been nervous around him. Given what he had heard had happened to the original clothier, back when Lasuma's was just a clothing shop on DS5.
When the doors opened he stepped out and several officers looked at him questioningly.
"You are not author..."
Using what Mr. Geral told him to say, even though you could hear the hesitation in his voice. "The Commodore is expecting me."
"The Commodore is in a staff meeting..."
Interrupting him again. "She is expecting me."
Looking at the Bolian, "You are?"
"Traxx Rall, I'm the tailor at Lasuma's."
"One moment." Tapping his comm. ==Ops to Commodore Michaels. Pardon the interruption but there is a tailor...from Lasuma's her to see you. He says he's expected.==
Why was it that T'mpest spent a good deal of her time alone, going over reports or filing paperwork and when she actually has a meeting, the tailor comes. "Send him in."
She turned to Cara and Curtis. "I was expecting this gentleman, but I did not know when. He should not take long. If we need to go elsewhere, I can excuse myself for a few minutes."
Traxx heard her announcement and that boosted his confidence. Giving the officer a wink as he passed he moved towards the 'big' office. As he walked in eye appraised he quickly, as he thought, ~she's going to look fabulous..~
